Incorrect Date Displayed When Exporting to Excel

This article addresses how to prevent incorrect date display in Microsoft Excel when exporting data from eBECAS/EDMISS. It explains how Excel's regional date settings can misinterpret dates and offers a recommended solution to ensure accurate date formatting.

Understanding the Cause of the Issue

When exporting date data from eBECAS/EDMISS to Microsoft Excel, Excel may sometimes misinterpret the date format used in eBECAS/EDMISS.

For example, "04/06/2024" represents June 4, 2024, but Excel might interpret this as April 6, 2024, depending on its regional date settings. This discrepancy occurs because Excel adjusts date formats based on the user's locale, which can lead to inconsistencies in date display.

Steps to Resolve the Issue

To prevent date format discrepancies when exporting data from eBECAS/EDMISS to Microsoft Excel, we recommend adjusting the Excel Date Format setting in eBECAS/EDMISS to dd-mmm-yyyy. This format minimizes the risk of Excel misinterpreting the dates due to regional settings.

  1. Go to Utilities > Setup Configuration > Setup > Options > General.

  2. Change the setting in Excel Date Format to dd-mmm-yyyy.

  3. Click Save to apply the changes.
