Direct SMS App
Send SMS messages using the Direct SMS app.
This is a legacy app and not available for new customers
Direct SMS, a legacy branch of Sinch MessageMedia, is no longer accepting new registrations. Existing eBECAS/EDMISS customers with active Direct SMS accounts can continue using the service with this app. New or existing customers looking to start using SMS should use a different SMS app. See all supported apps and integrations here.
There is no additional cost to use this App. However, Direct SMS might require paid credits or an active subscription to send SMS through their platform.
Configuration
Before using the Direct SMS app, it is necessary to set it up. This involves obtaining certain information from your Direct SMS account.
Create a new API Key and get the Username and Password for this key (these are not your login credentials).
From the Apps page in eBECAS/EDMISS:
Navigate to the Direct SMS App configuration.
Enter the following the details that you got from your Direct SMS account.
API username
API password
Enter the phone number that the messages will be sent from. Include the country code (+XX).
(Optional) Enter the International Country Code, including the + symbol, to be used as a prefix to replace a leading zero in the recipient’s mobile number.
SMS providers require phone numbers in an international format, prefixed with the country code (+XX). Manually entering all numbers in this format can be time-consuming. This setting allows mobile numbers to be entered in local format, and the app will automatically replace the leading zero (if present) with the specified prefix, converting the number to the required international format. If a mobile number doesn't start with a zero, this setting is bypassed, and the number is used as-is for sending SMS.Ensure all details are correct and click on Update to save the configuration.
Sandbox Configuration
SANDBOX SUBSCRIPTION ONLY
To prevent unintended SMS to be sent from your Sandbox environment, all user-generated SMS will be sent an mobile number of your choice. This will let you use the system without sending SMS to the actual recipients.
However, system-generated SMS will be sent to the intended recipients.
Go to Configuration page of the Direct SMS app.
Enter the mobile number for the Sandbox Recipient on the Sandbox SMS Configuration.
Click on Save to finish.
