Twilio App

The Twilio App provides a powerful and flexible way to add communication capabilities to eBECAS/EDMISS. With Twilio, you can seamlessly add SMS messaging services to your college system.

There is no additional cost to use this App. However, Twilio might require paid credits or an active subscription to send SMS through their platform.

Configuration

Permissions Required
  • Utilities > Apps > View Apps

  • Utilities > Apps > Manage Apps

Before using the Twilio app, it is necessary to set it up. This involves obtaining certain information from your Twilio account.

  1. Create a Twilio Account at Twilio website if you don't already have one.

  2. Get the following details from you Twilio account:

    • Account SID

    • Auth Token

    • Phone Number: A Twilio phone number that you can buy to send the messages from.

  3. Enter the Twilio Details in the App:

    1. Navigate to the Twilio App configuration page in eBECAS/EDMISS NextGen.

    2. Enter the following the details that you got from your Twilio account.

      1. Account SID

      2. Auth Token

      3. Twilio phone number

  1. Ensure all details are correct and click on Update to save the configuration.

Sandbox Configuration

SANDBOX SUBSCRIPTION ONLY

Permissions Required
  • Utilities > Apps > View Apps

  • Utilities > Apps > Manage Apps

To prevent unintended SMS to be sent from your Sandbox environment, all user-generated SMS will be sent an mobile number of your choice. This will let you use the system without sending SMS to the actual recipients.

However, system-generated SMS will be sent to the intended recipients.

  1. Go to Configuration page of the Twilio app.

  2. Enter the mobile number for the Sandbox Recipient.

  3. Click on Save to finish.

Test Twilio App

Permissions Required
  • Utilities > Apps > View Apps

  • Utilities > Apps > Manage Apps

Testing your Twilio App integration is a crucial step to ensure the app is ready to be used.

  1. Navigate to Twilio App’s configuration page.

  2. Click on Send Test SMS on the top right.

  3. Enter the phone number to send the test SMS to and click on Send.

  4. Check if the test message was successfully received by the intended recipient.

  5. Consult the Twilio’s help section for troubleshooting tips if the test message fails.
