Instalments Generator settings let you define rules for the creation of instalment, including rounding adjustments and due date handling when holidays occur.
Round Down Generated Instalment Amounts to a Whole Dollar Value
When enabled, instalment amounts calculated using the Instalments Generator are rounded down to the nearest whole dollar. Any remainder is added to the final instalment.
When enabled Instalment amounts are rounded down to the nearest dollar. Remaining cents are accumulated and added to the final instalment.
When disabled Instalment amounts are calculated including decimals.
Example
A course costs $200.00, split into 3 instalments. Without rounding, each instalment would be $66.67 and the last one will be $66.66. With rounding enabled, the first two instalments are $66.00 each, and the final instalment is $68.00 (to include the remainder).
Advanced Configuration
Use these settings to control how instalment due dates calculated through Instalments Generator are adjusted if they fall on holidays. By default, due dates are not shifted for holiday periods.
Move Due Dates Around Holidays
It will automatically adjust the due dates to the nearest Monday around the holidays that previously coincided with the due date. You have the flexibility to choose the direction in which you'd like to move the due date.
Forward It will automatically shift the due date to the nearest 'following' Monday if it falls during a holiday period. For example, if the holiday period is from 22nd Dec 2025 to 9th Jan 2026, and the due date falls on 22nd Dec 2025, it will automatically move to the next Monday after the holidays. In this case, it'll be 12th Jan 2025.
Example
Course: 24 weeks duration starting on 20th Nov 2023
Instalments with Option 1: Number of Instalments 4 with first instalment due on 20/11/2023, with each instalment due 2 weeks prior
Without the option enabled
As shown in the screenshot below, the second due date is set for 8th Jan, which is two weeks prior to the start of the instalment period but is in the middle of a holiday period.
With the option enabled and Forward
When the option is enabled with Forward, the generator will check and adjust the due dates to ensure they do not coincide with holidays. So the second due date has been moved from 8th Jan to 15th Jan as the screenshot below.
Backward This is is the opposite of the Forward option. It selects the Monday before the start of the holiday period instead of the one following it. Continuing with the above example, the due date would be set to 15th Dec 2025.
Example
Course : 25 weeks duration starting on 20th Nov 2023
Instalments with Option 2 : Instalments every 5 weeks, with first instalment due on 20/11/2023, with each instalment due 2 weeks prior
Without the option enabled
The start date for the second instalment coverage is 15th Jan, therefore, the due date was set for 1st Jan, two weeks prior, which falls on a holiday.
With the option enabled and Backward
On the other hand, with the option enabled with Backward, the due date is adjusted to 18th Dec, the earliest Monday before the holidays.
Move Back Due Dates by Study Weeks Only
If holidays occur between the instalment period start date and its due date, the due date will be moved back by the total number of holiday weeks within that overlap. Due dates will not fall within holiday periods.
When enabled Due dates are adjusted backward by the number of the holiday weeks.
When disabled Due dates are not adjusted for study week holidays.
Example
Course: 28 weeks duration starting on 17th Nov 2025
Instalments with Option 1: Number of Instalments 4 with first instalment due on 17/11/2023, with each instalment due 3 weeks prior
With option enabled, the second instalment's due date has been set to 15th Dec 2025, ignoring the 3 weeks holiday period and solely based on the Study Weeks, starting 3 weeks prior to the commencement of the second coverage.
