October 2024 Updates (NextGen)
Welcome to the October 2024 updates for eBECAS/EDMISS Next Generation!
This month, we’ve rolled out a bunch of improvements and new features to make things smoother for you and streamline workflows and internal communication. We’ve added cool new features to notes like @mentions, new financial bookmarks for templates, and apps that support more SMS providers.
Notes
🔥 @Mentions and Notify Users in Notes
NEW NEXTGEN ONLY
Notes just got more powerful with our new @mentions feature! Now, whenever you want to grab someone's attention on a specific note, you can simply mention them. They’ll get a notification in the app and an email with a link to the note. It’s super easy—just type @ in the note, and a list of users will pop up for you to choose from. Once the note is saved, they’ll be notified right away.

Additional Details for Notes

You can now see who updated a note and when, thanks to the new "Updated on" and "Updated by" fields, which appear on the Notes Details page.
Updated Permissions for Notes

We've improved control over the notes and adjusted the permissions to prevent any unauthorized changes.
View Notes: Allows users to view all notes within the object, including their own and those created by others.
Create, Edit, and Delete Own Notes: Allows users to create, edit, and delete their own notes within the object.
Edit Other Users' Notes: Allows users to edit notes created by others within the object.
Delete Other Users' Notes: Allows users to delete notes created by others within the object.
You can adjust the permissions for notes individually for each object, letting you control who has access and what actions they can take.
Contact your System Administrator to review and adjust the roles and permissions accordingly.
Renaming of Classic Notes to Quick Notes

To avoid ambiguity between the rich-text notes and the simple notes on some objects, we have relabelled the simple notes as Quick Notes. These Quick Notes are the same ones found in eBECAS/EDMISS Classic.
Templates
New Fees Bookmarks
NEW NEXTGEN ONLY
New bookmarks for Fees have been added for the following objects:
Students
Enrolments
Invoices
You can now use these bookmarks (grids) to personalize your templates with financial details like invoices, financial statements, and more. Additionally, individual Fee bookmarks showing the total amounts for the financial grids have been added.
Objects Manager
API Name for Custom Data Fields and Picklists
NEW NEXTGEN ONLY
Custom Data Fields and Picklists that users can create in eBECAS/EDMISS Next Generation will now use the prefix c_ in their API Names.
Diary
Prevent Changes for SMS/Email Diary Entries
NEW NEXTGEN ONLY
The Date, Subject, and Notes fields for SMS and Email Diary Entries can no longer be modified. This helps keep the details of already sent messages intact.
Apps
Credit Balance Check for Communication Apps
NEW
We've added a feature in eBECAS/EDMISS that lets you check the available credit on your account with the provider you use for sending emails and/or SMS.

Support for DirectSMS and WholesaleSMS Apps Configuration
NEW
We've added apps for DirectSMS and WholesaleSMS, so you can now use these providers to send SMS.
